I play a 58 degree K grind out of the bunkers. I often play a square or only slightly open face since there is so much bounce. I wonder if the thinking is if they made a 56 degree K and you open the face a lot it’s too much bounce. Also, I think the K is too much bounce for shots around the green off grass. I use a 56 M for that. It makes me carry an extra wedge just for bunkers but it’s a necessity for me on the courses in Pinehurst, especially on Pinehurst #2 and #4.

Why not take a 58-14K and bend the loft to 56*? Worked fine for me. I have 56-12D and 58-04T (bent to 56) for unknown course conditions.

You would reduce degrees of bounce if you bend it to reduce the loft. Another thread here says one degree of delofting reduces the bounce by the same amount. That sounds right to me.

The D grind is 12 degrees and the F is 14 degrees bounce in the 56 wedges. I’ll let the experts chime in which is more versatile on opening the face and using on turf. At an event at Pinehurst a couple of years ago, Mr. Vokey recommended the D grind as the versatility I needed.

Wedge bounce is dependent on the course you play as well as the striking ability of the operator

I have a 60 degree M wedge and I can get it to stop first bounce or make it run but that's down to the type of shot I am hitting
