Would love to try these with my new TS driver
  3. I tried them out over the past week but in all fairness my results are skewed as I’m having trouble with my swing right now. When I was able to pull off a good hit I found that I preferred the ball with black numbers. I didn’t gain any distance but I really liked how it felt off my irons, wedges and putter.

I’ve put my clubs away for the season now and will retest the balls come spring. Hopefully a long break will reset my swing.
  4. Luckily I was picked. I have been using Titleist balls for over 40 years. Every model launch I think how are these golf ball geniuses’ going to improve upon perfection? To be honest in many years I have not seen too much of a difference by and between previous model ProVx and ProV. This time I was presently surprised. No that is a lie, more like shocked. I tested the protos against ProVx, ProV and AVX. DAY ONE: I did not notice a whole lot of difference when chipping. While putting I noticed a strange sensation it seems to role truer and smoother. I thought, well maybe noticing something that is not there? For the iron and hybrid shots, I did not notice a whole lot of difference between the previous ProVx, ProV, the AVX and the proto. Then we got to my driver. The two holes where I hit my drives dead solid perfect, I was 10+ yards further than my previous best. Up until Titleist released the AVX I would alternate between the ProV and ProVx. Drives seemed to be about 1 to 2 yards difference between those two. When I started using the AVX I gained 5-10 yards on the average over the ProV and ProVx. I am a 15 index so I do not hit every drive dead solid perfect but the two times I did on DAY ONE I noticed a definite difference. The proto was a good solid 10+ yards beyond my best with the AVX. DAY TWO: Immediately much to my dismay the increased distance was confirmed. On the first hole there is a creek that runs across the fairway. When I crush my drive with a 2018 ProVx I am about 15-20 yards short. When I crush my AVX about 10 yards short. The proto went directly into the creek. Stoked about the distance but grumble, grumble. Right off the bat I lose one my protos :(. Now down to two of the sample protos. Later in the round on a par 5, there is another creek that comes into play on the second shot. I hit a so so drive. From where I lay, if I crush my 3 wood I am about 10 yards short of the creek. Naturally I crush my 3 wood. Yup lost proto number 2 grumble, grumble I watch as the ball flies into the creek. The rest of the round I play very conservatively so I do not lose the last sample proto. I still feel not much difference with irons, hybrids but I do feel the ball just rolls better. Not sure why just seems to roll truer and smoother. The last proto will be kept in a safe place :)

Thanks to all who posted their results. It is always nice to hear how our TT members subject the balls to their testing. Sorry to some balls got lost on their drives, but if you are losing them simply because you are hitting them too far... How can that be a bad thing ?
Keep up the good job of posting the reviews...
  6. WOW!! How does Titleist constantly make the perfect golf ball and then make it even better? Simply astonishing the #2019proto, both types.
I have spent all month testing the 2 sleeves i got on several courses and different conditions. Even compared them to the current #Prov1 #Prov1X and #AVX and here's what I found...

Off the tee: I could honestly feel so much more with my driver and 3 woods. And the ball compressed so well and rocketed off the face giving me more yardage overall. And both balls performed very well with an improved trajectory. The biggest advantage both balls i found was my mishits with my driver, MUCH more forgiving off the Toe and Heel on the driver, therefore more fairways in regulation for me!

Long irons/Hybrids: Again both balls just launch off the face, carrying don the fairway well, and with the trajectory, the drop and stop on the greens meant less rollout and less chipping for me and more putting with my Scotty Cameron Newport 2.

Short game: Both types of #2019proto combined with a #vokeywedge in my hands were a deadly combination around the greens. These balls performed amazingly. The feedback that I could feel with my short irons and wedges was something I have never felt before in a golf ball. At times it felt like I could feel the ball in my hand. And the way the balls checked up on a low pitch, or flew high with a flop, dropping and stopping exactly where I want, I couldn't have done better than if I used my hand to cup and toss the ball.

Putting: When I opened the boxes of balls, right away I could feel the difference of the #2019proto. Both felt much softer than the predecessor. And on the green, oh my word! off the face of my @scottycameron NP2 putter, these balls felt so so soft. The sound was incredible and music to my ears. It was so incredible its hard to describe as you could feel the softness through the face of the putter, up the shaft and into your hands.

Thank You @titleist for yet another amazing product that makes ME perform better at this game.

I couldn't find any information as yet but I'm going to guess that the red numbered ball is the Pro V1X and the black numbered ball is Pro V1.

So I got to play the Red Proto Tuesday on a beautiful 11 deg day here in Ontario. Had an interesting round. 4 birdies, 2 doubles and some great par saves.
Ball thoughts: I found that with long shots it was long and straight. I hit driver hybrid to 2 par 5's and thought I would lose it a bit on each approach but nope! It held straight. Chipped one up for easy putt, other pitched and made a 6

I missed some greens but all of them with straight irons just offline. So I had to put short game to test and it was remarkable. I hit good quality pitches and the ball responded great! And...… made some of the 5-6 footers. Putting with my Scotty Cameron Squareback (New toy yay!) felt wonderful.
So I Like the ball a lot.
One observation I am not sure with my ageing eyes i'm seeing or not but is the cover shinier? And is it slightly different paint or material than before?????

I look forward to hitting it on track man this winter and compare further. The last model I seemed to pick up the nuances when it came out between new features on the prov and provx, so will see what the 2019 shows on simulator.
Happy fall season. Sadly I think Ontario golf is winded down unless we get some late nov or early dec warm temps.

    Cheers to all!

  12. I would like to try what Titleist is working on.
Liked the AVX but heard that it won’t be available anymore.
    Is that right?

I got the two sleeves in the mail and I was pretty excited to get these proto's in play. I played a couple rounds with a ProV1 proto and was pleasantly surprised as to how good it looked after two rounds. I found I got a couple more yards off the tee and it felt great off the club face. The short game results were great and the ball rolled really well off the putter face. For me it's always been "feel" more than anything else when I select the ball I play regularly, and this ball feels great. Fantastic job as always Titleist! Next I put a ProV1x proto in play and used it for two rounds also. Same durability and after the two rounds I showed a friend the ball and he thought I had just taken it out of the package for the first time! I found the x ball a little firmer off of the club face, a little longer off tee, and that it didn't feel quite as soft in the hands as the ProV1. I still had great results with it. Thanks Titleist for sending these out to me. My regular golf buds' were quite envious when I showed these off to them!
