Ah yes... Good old winter golf :)
I remember one time around 2003 or 2004 when I got out in February with temps around 10 degrees. This was at a course just north of Oakville.

Ok this I've never done lol.... You were using a white ball as well I see. How hard was it to find after hitting? I would have probably used those swoosh mojo coloured balls.

Regarding the question on the white ball in the snow, we had no idea there would be so much snow on the course when we left, so we did not show up prepared. We did however draw a lot of black lines on the ball to help us spot them better. We were also fortunate that there was a bit of a crust on the snow off the fairways so the ball (most often) would sit on top :)
It was a lot of fun but mostly so I could say I did it !!!!
  4. I was hoping to get out on the weekend, but now Saturday is not looking as good. Sunday still may get up to 5 degrees, but I am busy and not sure if I can change plans. There is no snow outside of London, and they were still rolling their greens last week.

Alas Bob, there is too much snow up here in Barrie. We woke up to an additional inch and a half this morning.
We are stuck with putting in our basements to hone our skills with our Scotties, hitting balls indoors to groove those AP3's, and watching the pros play with their ProV's on TV.
Hope you get lucky and can get out for a quick round...
  6. tee time booked for 9:36 on Sunday. Supposed to be around 5 degrees, no wind. Should be okay.

We are blessed with good weather most of the year in Charleston, SC, so we get to play about 95% of the time. Being on the coast and at sea level, rain is our biggest enemy. Our course holds water easily and right now it has been raining a lot and we have been having high tides, so the course has been closed a few days. Called Noah who is in the Uber business to get through the flooding in downtown Charleston to get the course. Guess it beats the snow you guys are having and we can play cart path golf once the course reopens next week. Hope all you guys up there are doing well. Me I am planning on taking a cruise to Havana in January to fight off the cold and to take a short break from golf. Need one every now and then. Cheers, Chuck.
  8. Managed to play 18 on Sunday. 2 Temporary greens, and the ground was frozen. If you tried to replace a ball mark, your divot tool would only go in maybe an inch. That being said, it was a great day. 5 degrees with no wind, I took my heavy jacket off on the back 9 and replaced it with a windbreaker. You almost had to play bump and run on the greens as I made double bogeys on 2 of the first 3 holes when the ball hit green and then shot over the back. Greens were still good, actually like putting on a table. They were fast. No snow, and conditions dry. Ice covering all of the ponds. Playing partner hit the pond on a par 3, and ended up over the green. Going up to 4 and 5 degrees this week, but work is getting in the way. I think the outdoor season is over.

As a Montreal Canadien fan living in North Carolina, I try to listen to Habs games on SiriusXM and putt around the living room while doing it. We are just recovering from a snow "event" of about 10 inches so while melted the courses nearby are still too wet for my liking.

Play all through winter, if course is closed (rarely) we have two simulators to play any course in the world (almost) and for working on my swing, driving range or if all else fails we got a couple of snooker tables

Signed up with a winter golf school and spending 4-5 days a week there trying to rebuild a swing after back surgery last March. Not being able to play until end of October was a real bummer and the swing was pretty ugly then, but things are looking up! Hoping to get down to Eagle's Nest for a fitting before end of March this year!

The practice is starting to pay off. Takeaway is greatly improved. Still needs some minor work but close to where I want it. Next is transition...this one will be harder.

    Up to know I have:

    Change my setup
Modified my grip and released tension in the hands
    Changed my takeaway

I’ve been hitting the indoor simulator at Faraway Greens in Burlington. An hour practice once every couple weeks should help with shaking off the rust in the spring.

My new TS2 three wood is incredible. Ball speed is impressive and I’m loving the shape and black paint.

Will be ordering the TS3 driver to finish off the bag updates.

I was out to the practice facility again this evening and finally remembered to take my camera with me :) Here is a picture of the indoor set-up we have at the course. I have included a couple of shots of the Titleist heads and the selection of shafts we have available for fittings. Apparently the club has been making more sales again this year. Turns out the Titleist gear is a big seller. No surprise here ! Myself - still working on my game. Full shots are going well, but still struggling with the short wedge shots. It is coming, but it will certainly take time to build the confidence. Hope to be ready for course opening in the spring.

Occasionally I will have a look at my golf bag in the basement and sigh, then I get excited about our annual trip to the Orlando area in February to get in as many rounds of golf that we can.
