Are you a muni player, a private course player or a muni player that wants to be a private course player? And what’s your home course?

Myself-I’m a Muni Course player. Home course-Asheville NC Municipal Golf Course

I play public or semi private courses. Not in my budget to be a member anywhere at this time. Would like to belong somewhere eventually though. My go to courses near me are Warrior golf club in China Grove, NC and Cedarbrook golf club up in Elkin, NC. I also like to play Mooresville golf club in Mooresville, NC but it's hard to get a tee time there. I really enjoy getting to play other courses in the area at Carolina Golf Association one day tournaments.
  3. Hi:

Muni here, sometimes have the opportunity to play private clubs once in a while. Home course is Mohansic, one of the Westchester County, NY courses.

I'm a member at a private club and I also play a lot of muni courses because I belong to an associate travelling club. I play at Clear Creek Tahoe (7 to 8 month golf season depending on when the snow melts) and I play a lot of muni/public courses in the Sacramento Metro area.
  5. Public course player here. I have two children under 4 so a private club isn't going to happen for awhile.

I play mostly at Northville Hills (Palmer course) or Pheasant Run (Hills course) - metro Detroit area. If I get a chance to play private, it's typically with my old collage roommate at Detroit Golf Club.

I play most my golf at an Air Force Base where locals in my home town are welcome to play and I play many public access courses including many muni. My home course is Muroc Lake Golf Course in Edwards Air Force base.
    I am a muni player.

I never thought I'd ever belong to a private club, but the boss said he'd help with fees a few years ago, so it happened. They spoil the heck out of us and I enjoy it. In another couple years I'll be giving that up when I retire and am on a "fixed income".

I also play a number of public courses on weekends up north. Trout Lake and Plum Lake golf clubs in Vilas Co, WI are old classic courses. Tiny raised greens. Humpy fairways where they pulled stumps using mules 100 years ago, and you never know what lie you'll get in the middle of the fairway.

I've played a number of courses on military bases. Very reasonable fees. Navy Club at Seal Beach was fun and enjoyed the stories from club's bartender of when Tiger grew up playing there as a youngster. One of our daughters was a federal contractor and we played there when visiting her.

I play public courses in & around where I live. My home course would be Tex Consolver a par 72 and the longest course in the city 75.5/126 & 7361yds from the tips & 72.8/116 & 6863yds from the whites I play from. I usually play around 8 different courses a year, 3 of which are in the city I live in. The other 5 are in nearby towns.

I am a municipal course player. Ours was built in 1929 and renovated in 2020 to Seth Raynor style greens and bunkers. Only the greens do not run to the type of speeds his courses were built for. Much faster which increases their degree of difficulty. City of Charleston Municipal Golf Course, Charleston, S Carolina. I have the opportunity to play most public and private courses in the area along the coast.

I'm a member at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, FL. It's a semi private facility, but it has a big membership and there's not much room during the season (Nov-May 1) for the public.

Yes CY is still sending players out 3-4 days a week. I mostly play with Leslie Hines. I should have played Skyview this year but life got in the way. Definitely playing next year.

Private course, 4-5 days a week My vice, addiction since I was 12
  15. Where in MA, my fiance and I live up near Boston and have been looking for a Private Course, that doesn't cost an arm and a leg in Boston. Overall I feel as though golf in MA is very expensive compared to other states I have played in.

Currently play a private course but it is scheduled to close after this year and reopen in late 2023 as a TPC Wisconsin. Now retired, there is a decent muni close by and has easy access during the day during the week. The local munis are difficult to book on weekends with 5 hour rounds and booked all evening for leagues. Will rethink what works next year.

With the limited golf season you have in Wisconsin, it doesn't surprise me that weekend tee times would be hard to come by when the weather is favorable. For me, the biggest selling point to being a member at a private club is the casual golf rounds rarely exceed 4 hours.
  18. I'm mainly a Muni player who gets on to private courses regularly. I'll sya this, I don't think switching back and forth and regularly as I do help my game at all lol. I can break 80- usually at my local muni. When I step foot onto a private course with firm greens and forced shot shaping I find myself really hustling to break 90. My muni course by my house is Black Brook Golf Course. Mentor Ohio

Munis and Country Clubs in name only. Play slot during the week in the summer. Love weekends in the fall in Wisconsin. All the fair weather golfers stay away from the cold. I love it!

Been playing at a private club (Huntingdon Valley CC) for the last 5-6 years. I'm in the Philly area and there are lots of fabulous private clubs. We are also fortunate to have many muni/daily fee courses, too.

I'm a private club member, joined about 4 years ago at Cartersville Country Club (about 40 miles north of Atlanta). With my son playing alongside me and my other son interested in tennis, it finally made semi-sense financially to go private. The friendly membership along with access to great instructors really sold our family on it.

Also love the pace of play, if we're one of the first groups out on the weekend my son and I can generally get around in 2:30-2:45.

  23. Public and muni courses here in and around the Seattle area. Tee times are a challenge, but with Chambers Bay, Gold Mountain, The Home Course, and Trophy Lake about an hour away, always a game to be had at a good track.
