Watched the US Amateur last night on Peacock and Golf channel. Love match play. The course they played as rather unforgiving. The wind was coming in pretty hard off the ocean and the fairways and greens definitely were hard the ball was running. Should be a big adventure when you guys get there. One of the young guns hit a 370 drive with the help of the wind and the run out.

Yeah Chuck. Watched it too and it made me excited to get back out there. They get some real windy summer days and I usually play in the winter when it is cooler and wetter but usually not windy. It will be interesting to see what mother nature throws at us in October. I have been there enough to know to pack everything, just in case.

Watching it on TV gave viewers the chance to see it windy, sunny and calm, and foggy. Just didn't get to see those rainy days but viewers get the idea how quickly the conditions out there can change and how differently the courses play as the conditions change. Too bad they also didn't get to see how differently the 5 courses are but I think they saw enough to get hooked. Its going to make getting reservations a bit harder in the future.

Maybe, but those that KNOW, do their due diligence and plan at least a year out.. Cabot Cliffs will get this way as well!

Just got back from Bandon Dunes and 4 days of excellent weather that last part of August. A bit gusty in the afternoon but the courses were in superb shape. We dined at the Inn, Pacific grill, and the Bandon trails grill. All had protocols in place to keep everyone safe. It was never that busy and the service was great. We also picked up some takeout from some of the restaurants in town and brought it back to the room just for something different. I can't wait to go back!

Okay folks, less than a week away from the annual Team Titleist Invitational at my favorite golf resort, Bandon Dunes. Some of you that were able to go to Sand Valley got a taste of a Mike Kaiser golf property. Get ready for the place where it all started. Looking forward to seeing some of you there and hopefully, many of you at future events at different locations.

Enjoy your trip! My trip is just under 3 weeks away. Playing Sheep Ranch the first day. 4 days of golf, 5 rounds. Playing every course except Trails.

Consider the Trails.. Being in the hills and trees, its totally different than the others.

This is my my 7th trip to Bandon and I have been lucky enough to play all of the courses multiple times. Trails is a great course as well. Different look from the others which is neat. It is actually the hardest course for me on the property, not having played sSheep Ranch yet. The back 9 at Trails may be the best 9 hole stretch I have played. The elevation changes are pretty awesome.

Maybe you can squeeze Trails in one afternoon, it has some of my most favorite holes on the property.
  16. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Thanks to finally getting my final updated travel flights, I'll be at Bandon around 10am on Wednesday. Just scheduled an 11:45 am tee time to loosen up with the Bandon Preserve, if anyone wants to add to their trip. The main reservation line does handle tee times as well.

Fred Closs and I made a trip out of the Team Titleist Invitational. We flew into San Jose, then played our way north.
The first day, we played Foxtail North, in Rohnert, CA, a decent muni. This gave us a good opportunity to shake off the flight and reacquaint ourselves with our swings. Then we stopped at Salmon Run Golf Course, in Brookings, OR, a neat little (6093 yds from the "Professional" tees we played) that is in need of more TLC. Tee boxes had either not been mowed or for some reason were left long and shaggy. Layout was very nice, very tight off the tees, especially the ones we played. Finally we arrived at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. After checking in with Mike DePaolo on the patio, we strolled down and played the Punchbowl, a very challenging putting course. Titleist had organized an 18 hole course to warm everyone up for the rounds to come, leading to some very interesting putts! First day was Sheep Ranch, a true links course at the northern end of the property. The day was beautiful and the winds stayed down until late in the round. Next day was Bandon Dunes, the original course and the site of the most recent US Amateur. Completely different look and feel from Sheep Ranch. Fred, Mike C, and I had another fun round together, accompanied by Paul from Portland, a Titleist fitter who introduced the group to the new TSi drivers and fairways. Our caddies Rodney and Craig described the weather as one of the best days they have seen at Bandon. After a filing lunch buffet, Fred and I joined four others on The Preserve, an up and down par 3 that from the back tees had us seeking our best wedge and short iron shots. No wrap up dinner this year, but a final breakfast at the Gallery on Saturday before getting back on the road to San Jose. Titleist did an excellent job setting it all up, with the assistance of the Bandon Dunes staff. Many thanks to all the TT staff who pulled this together and made it memorable, despite the current situation.

October is one of the few months of the year where the weather is nice on the Pacific coast. You'll still get a bit a wind in the afternoon but the mornings should be crisp and fog free.
