Carnoustie aka Carnasty is one of my favorites! If we are talking about USA based courses then my favorites are the Bandon courses...all of em and down south I really like Torrey Pines and my favorite is the redesigned North course as the South course is very puntitive and long...

  2. I have played a lot of golf course but the one that always comes to mind when I think of my favorite golf course ever is Wolf Creek in Mesquite Nevada. I’ve never been to a golf course where every hole could be a signature golf hole on any other golf course. The views are top notch and when I went out there the course was in perfect shape. It is challenging but if you play smart but a little aggressive you will play pretty good. No doubt wolf creek should be on every golfers bucket list.

I really liked Club de Golf Alcanada in Mallorca. In fact, I think it's by far the best course in the mediterranean. Certainly a memorable experience was playing the Disney course in Orlando as a child together with my dad many moons ago when they still hosted the PGA Tour event back in the day. What a thrill to walk the same grounds as Tiger once did (when he was still a Titleist player by the way...), much more so as a child.
If you ever find yourself in Europe, I personally think GC Hubbelrath, Düsseldorfer GC, Marienburger GC and GLC Köln are stunning and demanding parkland-style championship courses worth a visit.

It's great to see all the top courses everyone has played listed int heir favorites. I've been blessed to play at Bandon, Pinehurst #2 and #4, Ocean Course at Kiawah, and TPC Sawgrass. But I don't consider any of those among my favorite courses. At Sawgrass, I thought the Dye course was a better challenge, for example. I grew up playing a muni in Casper, WY and it's still a fun, enjoyable course to play. The newer Three Crowns, also in Casper is a real challenge, especially if you play the Gold, RTJ Combo, or the Black tees. I normally play one of three courses in the Houston area--WindRose and Cypresswood (Tradition 18 and Cypress 18-- and find them a good challenge at age 77, so they are my current favorite courses. The US military course in West Berlin, GE that I played a lot in the late 60's and early 70's was an excellent course, as well. Normally in very good condition, it played as 10/8, not as 9/9. Lots of very good memories of that course.

Guess we can see how the Stream Song courses compare to the lists that we have compiled. See ya a week from Sunday.

Let's see what I can add to the discussion. These aren't ranked in order, that would be hard to do.

    Pinehurst No. 2
    Pinehurst No. 8
    The Olde Farm
    The Cliffs at Glassy
    Tobacco Road
    The Virginian
    Holston Hills CC - Knoxville

On my list to play are Linville Ridge, Primland, and Diamond Creek.

Having grown up in East Knoxville on a farm, about eight miles from Holston Hills CC, it is on my bucket list now that I play golf. One of my classmates and her husband are member there. Our last class reunion (#55) was there and they invited me to play there next time I am in town.
  14. Cold spring hills cc with Oheka castle in the back l.I ny
  15. All of the courses at Pinehurst. Just went for the first time and already planning a trip again next year!
  16. Lancaster CC
Conestoga CC, until they ruined it by cutting down the trees
Hershey Park Course, unfortunately the paved paradise and put up a parking lot
    Spyglass
    Pebble Beach
  17. Abdon M

    Abdon M
Northern California (because it's a big state)

The cutting of trees seems to be a common theme these days. There are more than a few courses in my area that have done the same thing.

Streamsong is an ok Links type course. Of the TTIs we have gone to Pinehurst is still tops on my list. They are the total package.

Well, just coming back from a weekend at Cabot Resort, both the Cabot Links and Cabot Trails get honorable mention. Still my personal favorite remains St. Andrews Old, closely followed by Royal Portrush.

I consider myself blessed when I think about where I've gotten to play golf! Some of my faves...

Aiken Golf Club, Aiken, SC (devilish greens)
    Caledonia, Murrell's Inlet, SC
    Hazeltine, MN
    Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland
    Nairn, Highlands, Scotland
    Troon North, Scotsdale, AZ
    TPC Scottsdale, AZ
    Swinley Forest, near London

So many amazing courses to list and for different reasons too. Pebble Beach Links, #18 is just so special to walk, but as a playable "golf course" I wouldn't put it in my top list. So I guess I would define favorite golf course for the golf playing experience, which list would include:
    - Congressional CC Blue Course
    - Spyglass
    - Bethpage Black
