  1. Both the Pro V 1 and 1x were solid performers. It seemed to me that there was a bit less side spin off of the driver and fairway metals but excellent spin on shots into and around the greens. Both performed really well for me in windy conditions.

Enjoyed playing with the new Titleist balls , found them to produce good distance and great feel around the greens , thanks for the opportunity. Regards, Ray
  3. I was excited to be chosen to give the new Proto ProV1's and ProV1X's a try. I had a 4 day golf outing at Wine Valley in Walla Walla, WA that would be the perfect venue to try these new balls out. The weather was a little cold, wet and windy. So my review is based on those conditions. The ProV1's preformed wonderful in the wind. Both balls did well around the greens and offered enough spin to keep the ball on the greens even on down wind approach shots. I also was impressed with the soft feel even in the mid 40° dagree temperature. I felt both balls provided plenty of distance in this type of weather. Hard to find a ball that preforms in both cold and hot weather.
I'm not the longest hitter anymore so constancy in distance and distance control is very important to me and these new 2023 Proto balls are on par in regards to that.
I applaud the Titleist team in coming up with another great product that allows me to enjoy the game of golf to the fullest.
  4. I was very happy to receive a sleeve of both prototype balls. My usual ball is the Pro V1. I found the 388 proto to be slightly longer off the tee but the same distance with the irons. Perhaps a little more run (lower spin off the driver??) Around the green--same great feel. The 348 proto had a definite higher ball flight and seemed to hold its line very well in the wind. Putting and chipped well. Both balls seemed to be very durable. I'll be buying the new Pro V1 as soon as it's available!! Thanks Titleist.

I received the 348 and 388 protos a few weeks ago and have tested them during last 3 rounds. I gained distance with the 388 and I was able to confirm a 5-7 yard difference using trackman technology. I felt I had better short game control when playing the 348. The 348 just felt better coming off the face of the wedges.

I have played a couple of rounds with the Proto balls side by side. I have always been a Pro V1 guy and prefer the optic yellow. To me, the Pro V1 suits my game much better. The 1X felt too firm for me and there was too much spin. As a result, I found myself slicing too often. I felt much more control with the Pro V1. My shots were consistently online and I much preferred the softer feel of the Pro V1 which provided better distance and control.
  7. I was so delighted to be sent the Proto golf balls to test. I played with them in two different weather conditions. First day I played early, and temps did not get much above 50. I expected the distance to be affected and they played very similar to my usual Pro V ball though recently been playing the AVX which is becoming my favorite. Second time temps were in 70s and got a much better feel. In the warmer weather Proto's did perform well and driver went a few yards longer. On the par 3s distance with irons off a tee did go further. I ended up going long a couple times with the normal club I hit. I thought it was just my swing at first but after the second time convinced it went further. They did feel softer. I like them and would buy them. Though if you come out with new AVXs send me some to test too!
    Thanks again,
    A real Titleist fan.

  8. Both Balls were excellent as expected.
Seemed like the X went straighter than the previous model.
Feel around greens was excellent on both balls.

Was able to play in good and bad conditions. Into the wind, I felt like it penetrated better. Felt like touch shots around the green, didn't have as much control. Didn't check as much as previous balls.

Have been testing out the 348 Proto for a couple weeks now. Absolutely fell in love with this golf ball.

    - Great off the tee, cuts through the wind very well.
    - Long iron feel is great as well.
    - Great short game feel/spin, I usually spin the ball too much. Felt like this ball gave me the perfect amount for my game.
    - Durability was amazing

Overall, I hope they put the 348 Proto into production. As I mentioned, ball flies great, has a soft feel yet seems to be more durable than prior models.

Was finally able to get out and test the new white box balls. As always Titleist does it again paired with the new TSR2 driver absolutely love it also felt really good with the irons. Felt a little softer around the green on chip shots. Thanks again Titleist.
  12. Thank you Titleist for this opportunity to review the new 348 ProV1X and 388 ProV1 golf balls.
The past couple weeks I switched back and forth and compared notes to previous generations. These balls seems a bit softer than last years models and gain more yardage which is exactly what I’m looking for as a high to mid-high swing speed player. Spin is exceptional with both and ball flight/trajectory was on par with past models. I will continue to use V1X models and look forward to the added benefits! It has everything I look for! Thanks again Titleist
  13. I received two boxes of proto balls. I usually play the pro v1 ball and found the 388 ball similiar to it. the ball flew slightly higher and while I can't draw a ball back on the green did find it checked up better for me. The 348 ball had a lower trajectory for me and didn't check up as well. I didn't notice any distance change in the balls but I probably don't hit the sweet spot on driver as often as I should. I am looking forward to the new 388 balls because stopping it on the green is more important for my game. Thank you very much for the opportunity to test these balls
  14. I was fortunate enough to receive a sleeve of both 348 and 388 protos for trial. While I do not normally play Pro V1X, the 348s seemed on par, but I did notice better durability.

Pro V1 is my go-to ball, and the 388 proto was a noticeable improvement with short and mid-iron approach shots. Increased spin back on the greens was the first improvement I observed, followed by excellent manners around the green.

I’ll be putting the ‘23 Pro V1s in my bag as soon as they come on the market.
  15. My experience with these new golf balls was exciting. Because I was tapped to test these balls and provide you with my feedback.
What I had found Both balls were true Titleist high-quality, great control, great to spin. I might have been just having a great day but there was more bite on the green with these golf balls. I look forward to them being distributed shortly so I can start playing them on a regular basis.
Again, it was a pleasure and an honor to be chosen to test these golf balls for Titleist.
  16. To start off, I'd just like to throw a thanks out there for giving me some of these test sleeves.

I keep things short and sweet; comparing to store bought pro v1's from august

    388 Proto

Feel: Harder but doesn't sacrifice playability

Distance: 9 iron normal is 157, was hitting it consistently 162 on monitors

Spin: Higher than usual (on outdoor monitor), but could be due to seasonal change no noticeable effect while on course

    Control: Felt like a Titleist

***I'd like to state, I did play 3 rounds with the same ball and the durability held up quite well which has sometimes been my biggest issues with Pro V1's, their soft nature shortens their life span but they just perform so well on and around greens that its hard to choose anything else.

All in all, the 388 felt great and performed how I expect this ball to.

    Thanks,
    DH

Pro V1 and Pro V1x review and comparison:

    1. Both balls had solid feel and a nice crisp sound. Not too different from the previous verions.
    2. Both felt a bit softer and quieter then before.
    3. Pro V1 held its line very well and in addition the ball flight was a bit harder to curve and seemed to correct itself as it flew.
    4. Pro V1x spun a bit more and flew slightly higher than the Pro V1. I liked it better when the course fairways were soft with less run out and when the greens were hard and needed a bit more height and more spin to hold the green.
    5. So in summary balls continue to do what they were designed to do but just a bit better. I'll continue to carry both balls and switch them in and out based on course conditions.
  18. First of all, thank you for a second time to test the golf balls. I played the titleist and the ball i use and notices i get a few more yards with my shots, better spin around the greens, and i love the feel off the putter on the greens. All and all, much better as a whole with the titleist than the golf ball i use. Looks like im changing balls! Out with the old and in with the new:) thanks again!
  19. I was very thankful that the Titleist team reached out to me for testing. I have been a Titleist guy for as long as I can remember both balls were a treat to play my findings were the 388 was longer feel was awesome control was deadly. The 348 was harder and did not quite have the distance and feel for me. Thanks again if you ever need anything tested again, I'm your man.

  20. My apologies for submitting my review so late. My club was closed for overseeding and just reopened recently.

PRO V1X--Nice, clicky feel off of the clubface. Jumped off the club nicely. Not overly spinny, just the right amount. Flighted well in windy conditions. Penetrating flight even with a fade. I really liked this ball—shot my best round of the season with it!

PRO V1--I must admit that I often play a lot of "found" golf balls (PRO V1Xs mostly). My home course is a tough one so playing new balls every round can get prohibitively expensive. Having said that, I really could feel a difference playing these freshly minted Titleists. They went just a little farther and straighter than what I have become accustomed used to. They also spun when I needed them to and held even on firm greens.

Sincere thanks to Titleist for giving me the opportunity to be on your testing panel.
